About Us

Letter from the President

In December of 1981, a few marketers in the AEC industry got together in Charlotte and formed the SMPS Carolinas chapter. As you all know we officially changed our name to SMPS Charlotte last year to better differentiate ourselves from the Palmettos and Research Triangle chapters. We will be celebrating our 30th Anniversary the entire calendar year because I think this is a huge accomplishment! We have all been braving the storm these last two years, but I am excited to consistently hear about new job postings and the seven new members that have joined since June!

I am happy to share with you the new SMPS Charlotte 2011-2012 Board of Directors:

Emily Crandall, CPSM – President
Sara Downing, CPSM – President-Elect
Tracy Sagehorn, CPSM – Treasurer
Kathleen Chambers, CPSM – Secretary
Janet Brooks, CPSM– Director of Programs
Beth Ganoe, CPSM – Director of Membership
Kristin Worley  – Director of Communications
Katie Boone, CPSM – Director of Education

One new communication initiative for our 30th Anniversary year is our very own SMPS Charlotte Blog. Read our first post here! Remember to also follow us here: Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.

Although our calendar year began on September 1, 2011, we have already had two fantastic meetings. The Programs Committee has been rocking and rolling with their kick off social in August and our first ever joint AIA Charlotte meeting on September 1st. If this is any indication of how the year is going to unfold, then we are in for a treat!
